A baby photo session, also called a sitter session, is a milestone photo session in a baby’s first year. It is scheduled when your child can sit and crawl, but doesn’t yet walk. Every child develops differently, so a sitter photo session is usually scheduled when a he is around 6-10 months old.
I truly love a sitter session! Babies are very interactive at this age and are full of genuine expressions. They smile easily, they giggle and make these adorable faces. Am I the only one who loves the chubbiness and the roundness of a 6 months old baby? I cannot be alone here. Come on, I know you can’t resist it as well!
How to prepare for a baby photo session?
Make sure that your child is well rested and fed. I always ask my clients to feed their babies right before they arrive to my studio. I also ask to make sure that their sleep cycle doesn’t interfere with my session. Ideally, we want a baby to nap in the car on his way to my studio. This way we’ll get a well rested and a happy little model!
What to bring for a sitter session?
A well fed baby is a happy baby, well most of the time. So, make sure that you bring milk for your child. A baby might be thirsty or stressed out in a new environment. Therefore offering him a bottle or breastfeeding him would comfort and calm him down.
I have a lot of accessories for a sitter photo session (knitted hats, shorts, pants, and onesies), so you don’t need to bring anything in terms of clothing for this session. All of my props are custom made for my sessions, so I can assure you that your little one will be dressed in a very cute way for his sitter session.
