Join me, Irina Fox, for an inspiring outdoor photography workshop set in a blooming apple orchard. This workshop is designed for amateur photographers who already shoot in manual mode and are ready to push their creativity further. Step into spring with a creative boost!
This workshop is perfect for both beginner photographers who want to improve their skills, and more experienced photographers who already work with clients. The only requirement is that you know how to use your camera in manual mode. We won’t be covering camera basics during this workshop, simply because there won’t be enough time.
In this hands-on, three-hour workshop, participants will learn how to elevate their portrait photography by mastering both the technical and creative aspects of a photo session. From working with natural light to composing powerful images that tell a story, this workshop will cover essential tools and techniques that photographers need to confidently direct, pose, and photograph their clients in a flattering and authentic way.
You will have the chance to photograph two professional models—one in a solo portrait setup, and one with a family—giving you variety and depth for your portfolio. We’ll be shooting during the golden hour, so expect that dreamy, soft light we all love.
What participants will learn:
- How to compose visually compelling and balanced images
- How to work with natural light for soft, flattering results
- How to shoot storytelling-style portraits that evoke emotion
- How to communicate effectively with clients during a session
- How to identify the most flattering angles for each individual client
- How to use reflectors to control and shape natural light
- What camera settings to use for outdoor portrait sessions
About instructor:
With over a decade of experience as a professional photographer and hundreds of successful photo sessions both outdoors and in the studio, I bring a wealth of knowledge and practical insight to this workshop. I operate a home-based photography studio in Blainville, where I work year-round.
Over the years, I have refined my skills through both hands-on practice and continued study. This workshop is an excellent opportunity for photographers who wish to enhance their technical abilities and build greater confidence in their work.
I will share my complete approach to working with clients—from guiding and posing them to incorporating storytelling into each session. Nothing will be held back, and I will be happy to answer all your questions throughout our time together.

For this workshop, make sure to bring your camera along with your favorite portrait lens — a 50mm, 35mm, 85mm, or a 24-70mm f/2.8 are all great options. Personally, I mostly use the 85mm and the 24-70mm lenses for this type of session.
Don’t forget to bring an empty memory card and fully charged batteries. I also recommend bringing your phone to capture some behind-the-scenes photos or videos and keep beautiful memories of the experience. If you’d like, feel free to bring a notebook and a pen to take notes during the workshop.
A full payment of $250 is required to secure your spot in the workshop.
